BBQ chicken and smoked gouda PIZZA!!!!!!!!

Can I say cowabunga??? If you guys didn’t know I love the teenage mutant ninja turtles and I thought it was so funny that they only ate pizza practically. I’ve been wanting to make this pizza recipe for a while and since I had some leftover smoked gouda I decided it was a good time to make this.  I think it came out pretty delicious. Here are the ingredients you guys will need:

  • a package of pizza dough ( I used the pillsbury brand)
  • red onions
  • scallions
  • fresh cilantro
  • smoked gouda
  • chicken breast or  tenderloin
  • BBQ sauce
  • honey
  • salt, pepper, garlic powder
  1. First cut you chicken into bite sized pieces and season with salt, pepper and garlic powder.
  2. Stir fry the chicken until cooked thoroughly. While cooking the chicken, dice up some green onions, slice thin strips of the smoked gouda and cut thin slices of red onion.
  3. Preheat your oven at 400 degrees F.
  4. Mix bbq sauce with honey and coat the cooked chicken in the sauce.
  5. Roll out your pizza dough to the desired thickness and size then spread bbq sauce over the pizza dough.
  6. Place the smoked gouda on top, then the chicken, then the green onions and red onions.
  7. Bake the pizza in the oven for 15-18 minutes. Voila.

Note: Gouda cheese in general does not melt very well compared to other cheeses. So if you prefer the cheese to be perfectly melted in gooey, you may want to add mozzarella cheese on top allowing more heat over the smoked gouda.

I hope you guys enjoy this recipe. Until next time! Bon appetit!!!!

The Daily Catch in Northend, a busy area full of yummy italian restaurants and bakeries, is a must go to when you come to Boston. The restaurant is a small, quaint place serving authentic Sicilian-style Italian cooking. It is a very cozy and homey style restaurant, you can see the chefs cooking right in front of you. Due to the small area, there is not much seating so it is best to go early if you want to catch a bite to eat. They are known for their black pasta made with squid ink as well as their Lobster pasta dishes. There is no menu, bring your glasses, the entire menu is written on a large chalkboard off to the side on the wall.

I ordered the Black pasta aglio olio. It was delicious. The Calamari here was the best i have ever had. I love fried calamari so if you do too, definitely order it. It was my first time experiencing black pasta, the consistency is very different from regular pasta. It has a much tougher consistency. The ground squid was sooooo good. Definitely will come back sometime. The prices are a little expensive but well worth it.

Another place I recently visited was The Publick House bar and restaurant in Brookline, MA. It is very busy and so expect a wait unless you have reservations. IF you love beer, this is the place to be. They offer a wide array of beers local and international. I love the hard cidar the have here since I don’t really drink beer. They are known for their mac and cheese dishes as well as their mussel pots. The pots come with different flavors and sizes. My friends and I ordered the red curry. Absolutely phenomenal. You must come here with your friends for dinner and drinks. Until next time, enjoy eating and drinking with your loved ones.

We Are Boston Strong! Never stop running to your goal!

Last week was a very heartfelt and emotional roller coaster. I am from NY and witnessed the 9/11 attack on the World Trade Center. Left school at 2pm and didn’t get home till midnight. It was a very scary experience for a freshmen in high school. Now I am a grad student in Boston and when marathon Monday came I was ecstatic. It was a beautiful day to spend with friends and watch the marathon close to home. My friends and I were by the finish line a few hours before the first bomb went off. We were lucky and so were our fellow classmates. It came with a sigh of relief but with a heavy heart.

My  prayers go out to the victims who lost their lives or were severely injured that day. It was amazing to see the community band together and help one another. The police force and medical staff were amazing and went straight to innocent bystanders, who just wanted to see their loved ones cross the finish line, despite the present danger. Those people are true heroes. At least in this small little city, we can see there is still a little bit of humanity left and that despite people from being all over the world at this marathon everyone supported each other. Proud to be a student in the Boston community and hope that this horrible tragedy is never re-enacted in the U.S. or anywhere else across the country.

World Peace may sound cliche but that is really what everyone needs right now. Just because its not happening in your backyard, doesn’t mean it doesn’t happen daily elsewhere and it doesn’t mean that it won’t affect you. Life is precious so live like there is no tomorrow and hold on to your loved ones as long as you can.

In memory of the Boston Marathon and 9/11!

Another DIY Mug with a Sharpie!

I made this mug for one of my best friends who was returning to Finland. I was really sad and I hope one day I can go visit her in Finland. We met freshman year of undergrad living right across from each other. We bonded very quickly and she has remained a really close friend ever since. WE both love Calvin & Hobbes so naturally I did another Calvin & Hobbes inspired mug. The quote this time is:

“Things are never quite as scary when you’ve got a best friend!!”

I miss you Dani! Hope all is well with you!

I Love Restaurant Week.

I went to Oishii Restaurant in Boston and had their lunch special. The lunch was $30 for my dish. It came with so much food and I love the plating. Everything tasted absolutely amazing. The lobster risotto was very rich and creamy. The lobster was not dry at all. The sushi was amazing and the the different cod dishes were unique. I loved the sauces that came with each mini dish. The crab cake was so cute and so yummy. I love rock shrimp since I have a sweet spot for fried shrimp. it was crispy and the lemon aioli sauce was off the hook. It was a little difficult eating the spicy tuna salad roll since the rice was at the botton of it so by the time i got down to the rice there was no more tuna. I didn’t realize that the roll was actually rolled from a thinly sliced cucumber. Amazing. Ended with Yuzu ice for dessert. It was the perfect end to the meal since it was fresh, sweet and really cleansed your palate. Hope everyone had a great restaurant week wherever you guys may be!

Painting again……..

I have been wanting to get back into painting but had never had the time. The last time I painted was for my landscape painting class a couple of years ago. So after my National Boards Exams, i decided to head to Blick and purchase a bunch of art supplies.Good thing I had my student coupons! This is what I painted inspired by a Youtube artist and teacher by the name of Tim Gagnon. Hope you guys like!

Sorry for taking so long to post! The past couple of weeks have been very stressful. Just took my National Board Exams Part 1 of 3 a couple of days ago. It was a grueling 2 day - 14 hour exam of 500 questions. My brain has yet to recover from it.

The good news was i went home for a little over a week before the exams to study at home and be surrounded by friends, family and my bf. I had enough of Boston. Got studying done and my mom fed me while some days my bf took me out to dinner so I really can’t complain. Let’s just hope i passed the exam, knock on wood!

These are some of the pics of my mom’s cooking and when Ed took me out to dinner. I miss homecooking so much! Hope you guys enjoy. Will be posting some artwork soon so stay posted. Have a great week everyone!

A DIY Sharpie Mug i made for my bf as a late v-day/early b-day gift.

I loved the comic strips Calvin & Hobbes and Peanuts. So i drew the characters: Calvin, Hobbes, Charlie Brown and Snoopy.

I also added a quote by Charles M. Schulz:

“Absence makes the heart grow fonder; but it sure makes the rest of you lonely.”

Hope you guys like and have a great day!
